The Genesis
The College of Nursing is a new institution under the umbrella of Manohar Hill Charitable
Trust .
The trust is a symbol of benevolence and compassion for suffering fellow being and
is a bold experiment of social service, which was, founded in 1964 by late Mr. P.
Geevarghese a Kottayam Industrialist.
Based on personal conviction and Philosophy of its founder that "man is only
a custodian of God's money, various institutions were established by trust for social
service and to contribute to welfare and development of community in health, education
and allied fields.
The institutions under the Manohar Hill Charitable Trust include the following institution
with proven track record since decades.
- M.G.D.M. HOSPITAL (1964)
- P. Geevarghese School of Nursing (1975)
- Baselios English Medium School (1974)
- School of Medical Laboratory Technology (1979)
- The College of Nursing is the youngest institution under the trust, which is being
established and planned to be developed as a prestigious institution under the trust.
The College is named after the saintly bishop Theophilus, who was an inspiring force
and promoter of M.G.D.M. HOSPITAL and other trust institutions.
THEOPHILUS COLLEGE OF NURSING - A BRIEF UPDATE
Theophilus college of Nursing commenced functioning in 2002 and
is recognised by Kerala Nurse's & Midwives council, Indian Nursing Council and is
affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS).
IVth Batch B.Sc Nsg students have completed course in 2011 and has passed with 100%
results.

M.G.D.M. HOSPITAL- A BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Mar Geevarghese Dionysious Memorial Hospital, Kangazha (established in 1964) has
a prominent place in the health sector of Kerala especially Kottayam District. From
its humble beginning as a small dispensary to cater to the health care needs of
a rural community, it has become a multi disciplinary institution. It renders not
only hospital based services but also preventive and promotive health care and also
services aimed at the educational and comprehensive development and welfare of the
community it serves. While most of the multi specialty hospitals in Kerala and India
are situated in urban setting, our hospital has a special stature owing to its modern

Academic programme
a) Syllabus of the course:
4 year B.Sc.Nusrsing course offered by the college is affiliated to Kerala University
of Health Sciences(KUHS). The B.Sc.Nsg. Syllabus which is framed in tune with regulation
of Indian Nursing Council are followed strictly in this institution.
b) Admission to the course:
i) No. of Seats: Currently the annual intakes is only 50 seats
as permitted by Govt. of Kerala, Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council and Kerala University
of Health Sciences(KUHS).
ii)Eligibility for Admission: Candidate for admission to the course
of B.Sc. Nursing shall be required to have passed Higher Secondary course of Kerala
or any other course with 10+2 Years duration recognized as equivalent these to be
Kerala University of Health Sciences(KUHS) with Physics , Chemistry and Biology
as optional with minimum 50% aggregate marks in there subjects.
iii)Criteria for Admission: 50% seats are filled by Govt. of Kerala
through LBS Centre following all statutory reservation. Balance 50% seat are Management
Quota seats. This 50% seats of Management Quota are filled on the basis of merit
list prepared by management.
c) Examination & Evaluation system: University examination
is conducted yearly in addition to regular and systematic internal evaluation which
is ongoing and continuous.
EXTRACURRICULAR AND CO- CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
With a vision of contributing to all-round and integrated development of students,
following activities are planned to be provided

Facilities for outdoor sports and games are provided in stadium
adjacent to
the college. Indoor games facilities are provided in the hostel.
